Talented Form 7 pianist Alan Liu has curated a wonderful programme of music for the last Sunday afternoon of term, representing his deep love of music of the Romantic era. He will be joined by fellow Form 7 musicians Eliza, Lucy and Pien to give one of their final performances at Oakham School, which will also raise money for charity.

Orchestral & Choral Concert

We round off this academic year’s Music in the Chapel series with a celebration of orchestral and choral music. There is a distinctly Spanish flavour to much of the music in anticipation of the Music Department’s forthcoming tour to Spain. Effervescent music by de Falla and Moszkowski bookends the programme, which also features the vocal talents of Form 7 Music Exhibitioner, Eliza Cohen Gregory, singing a famous set of Spanish songs by Rodrigo. We can also offer an early Haydn symphony, as well as the Chamber Choir in a lighter mood performing jazz-influenced music by John Rutter. Be sure to join us for a colourful feast of wonderful music!

Lower School Live in Concert

Join us in support of the School’s youngest musicians in the final Lower School concert of the School year. Featuring a full range of instrumental and choral ensembles, alongside talented soloists, we can promise a highly entertaining programme, which will conclude with Lin Marsh’s vibrant and rhythmic Drum Songs performed by the Lower School Choir.

Professional Music in Chapel

Oakham’s Head of Piano, Anne Bolt, rekindles her longstanding partnership with professional violinist Annebeth Webb for the latest of our one-hour professional concerts. Annebeth is a member of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Holland, and her varied programme with Anne explores three wonderful violin sonatas from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras. Saint-Saëns’ remarkable first sonata offers an exciting finale to their recital.

Celebrate the start of the Summer Term with an exciting concert performed by a number of Oakham School’s top ensembles. It will be a concert of true musical variety with a wide array of music played by musicians from across all year groups. Younger musicians in the Wind Band will perform popular works for wind and brass, contrasting with selected solos and string music played by the Chamber Orchestra. The Concert Band will provide a spectacular second half, bringing together their repertoire from the past year, ranging from anniversary works by Vaughan Williams to a medley of music by Eric Clapton.
